For a while now, Microsoft has been making efforts to combine their Xbox and Windows platforms into a unified system. The end result of this unification is an Xbox console that all games can scale across just like the PC. Hence, the birth of the Xbox Scorpio.
The Scorpio Project in this respect would mean the end of the “traditional” hardware cycle where you have a generation replacing another. Microsoft can decide to dish out a new console any time they desire as long as games are made to scale with the hardware like you have with PC games. They could even decide to launch a cheaper model with lower specifications along with a high end at the same time.
We can safely say there is an extension in this generation indefinitely. There are also some rumors that Sony is also trying to do the same with the Neo. It is being rumored that it would share its library with the PS4. The Xbox Scorpio will probably be the most powerful console that has been released which is capable of 4k gaming and it’s going to share a library with the Xbox One console.
Unlike PS4 Pro, Xbox Scorpio is a full-blown next-generation machine. The Xbox Scorpio is capable of playing nice with VR and rendering in 4k. Just like the PS4 Pro, the base console is identical to the game library just that it has graphics on many titles. The Xbox Scorpio represents a major performance boost over the Xbox One S and it is made for those gamers who want to see games played at the best possible quality on a console.
